Welcome to Innovative Technology! This option provides exciting opportunities for you to become digitally literate, to learn about yourself, others and the world around you. The digital world is a powerful place that can bridge the divide between reflection and action. In this class you will learn to think about the digital world, your digital learning pathways, and 21st century creativity. You will learn to think about your digital life critically, explore curricular connections, and engage in authentic learning experience. Through all this you will learn valuable life skills and digital learning techniques. The plan is to work our way through six (or more) modules by doing the 5 projects you see on the side bar and doing daily activities. The picture below shows you the general plan (zoom in by clicking on the image otherwise it's pretty tiny).

Day One - Class Culture and Basic Manners

Please be silent as you do this activity. On a word document please respond to the above quotes. Include an answer to this essential question: What evidence do you have that you promote positive class culture and display good manners?

Day Two - Introduction to school technology

The 21st century student must skillfully navigate computer programs and online communication as a point of basic literacy. You need important support in learning to understand all the information they have access to and in figuring out what applies to you. Please be silent as you do this activity. In a word respond to these guiding question to help you define your journey.

Day Three - Getting Started

Essential question: How can you create, form and maintain online relationships with teachers and peers for the purposes of learning?

Today's activities:

1. Opening activity. Answer and think about today's essential question. Post your answer on your blog.

2. Make a google docs folder:

• You need to make a folder for this class and put your work in it.
• Go to google docs and create a folder for your work in this class.
• Title it Last Name, First Name, Period #
  
• Share this folder with your teacher ladyb5073@gmail.com
• Save your picture of yesterday's quiz certificate to your work folder.

3. Get your typing speed.

• Create login information for the online typing class and take your first typing test.
• Save a picture of your results to your google docs folder.
• The do your numeric pad. 

4. Create a motivational slide for our collaborative slide show.

• Make a motivational poster at http://wigflip.com/automotivator/
• Find a motivational quote that inspires you. Key words motivational, educational, quotes, school, inspirational, (I find music and proverbs inspiring)
• Make your quote image. Choose an appropriate one word title.
• Save a jpeg file of your quote poster to your computer screen.
• Open the collaborative slide show and insert your image onto a slide.
• Save another copy of your image into your poster.

5. Start your passwords spreadsheet.

We're going to be using lots of openware and will need many passwords ect.
Save a copy of this spreadsheet into your class work folder.
Write in your passwords so if you forget them you don't lose your work
